We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Research Assistant to join our team in Forensic and Legal Psychology.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Research Assistant to join our team in Forensic and Legal Psychology. This is a part-time position (two days a week). The successful candidate will assist with various research projects focused on sexual violence, including sexual abuse of children, CSAM (child pornography) offending and prevention, and research surrounding incels.

The tasks include:
  • Organising and coordinating the work of voluntary research assistants.
  • Contributing to systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses.
  • Writing up research papers in various stages of progress.
  • Assisting in preparing ethics applications.
  • Performing basic data analysis using SPSS; knowledge of R or a willingness to learn is appreciated.
  • Supporting the principal investigator in day-to-day administrative tasks to enhance organisation and project management.

Requirements

The ideal candidate:
  • Has a master’s degree in psychology, forensic psychology, or a related field.
  • Has experience in or affinity with conducting research, particularly in areas related to sexual violence.
  • Has proficiency in SPSS; knowledge of R is a plus.
  • Has strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is detail-oriented and has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Has the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
  • Has prior experience in systematic reviews, meta-analyses, or ethics applications is advantageous.
  • Has excellent communication and writing skills in English (C1 conform CEFR).

We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).

The start date of this position is 1 September 2024 and you will be based at Campus Woudestein in Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB). This position is for 0.4 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.226 to a maximum of € 5.090 gross per month, salary scale 10, on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is entered into for the duration of 1 year and can be extended if performance is good and the organizational circumstances remain unchanged.

Department

Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies (DPECS)

Our department consists of 6 teams covering the disciplines of Psychology, Educational Sciences and Pedagogical Sciences; three closely related disciplines with each their own profile. The different psychological specialization areas of DPECS focus on understanding cognitive, physical, and social functioning and well-being in the context of mental health, education, and work. The educational sciences focus on issues regarding effectiveness and inclusion in primary, secondary and tertiary education. The pedagogical sciences focus on issues related to everyday as well as problematic development and upbringing within families, at school and in youth care. The disciplinary perspectives of DPECS complement each other and share the mission to generate societal impact with high-quality scientifical research on timely societal issues, and with the use of innovative methods and techniques and open science. Department
The Clinical Psychology team focuses on five interconnected research themes: Experimental Psychopathology of Emotional Disorders and Affective Neuroscience, Substance Use and Addiction Science, Developmental Psychopathology, Forensic and Legal Psychology, and Health Psychology and Behavioral Change. All five themes are characterized by a 'From Lab to Society' research vision, which aims at a strong mutual connection between fundamental (experimental) research, clinical practice and health promotion. In addition, our team provides education within the Dutch and international bachelor program Psychology, and the master specializations Clinical Psychology, Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Forensic & Legal Psychology, and Health Psychology.
