At Wageningen University & Research (WUR), we are looking for a colleague to oversee the online communication of the Social Sciences Group (SSG), one of our five science groups. SSG focuses on transitions towards sustainable, inclusive, and equitable food and ecosystem systems worldwide. As part of the Corporate Communication & Marketing department, you will be the regular advisor and sparring partner for online communication for the colleagues at SSG, your internal client.

In this dynamic and independent role, you will contribute to important societal themes such as climate change, global food security, biodiversity conservation, and equitable wealth distribution.

Your Role
The purpose of your position as Online Communication Coordinator is to enhance WUR’s online visibility from the perspective of social sciences. You will highlight the services/project results of this group through various online channels to our target audiences and stakeholders, thereby strengthening WUR’s position. You will work closely with seven colleagues and the team leader of the Marketing & Communication team of the Social Sciences Group at WUR.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an effective online communication strategy and operational online plan for SSG, aligning with organizational goals, WUR-wide themes, online vision, social media vision, and the marketing and communication plans of the knowledge unit and research institutes;
  • Manage and innovate the online landscape of the knowledge unit, including the effective, targeted use of content on the website (e.g., institute pages, dossiers) and social media channels to inform, inspire, and activate stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with the communication and marketing team of SSG to ensure the online translation, connection, and safeguarding of WUR-wide themes with the online vision on SSG’s themes, programs, and projects;
  • Provide advisory and proactive roles concerning the content on the pages of the Social Sciences Group components;
  • Integrate and translate recent online communication developments and innovations into SSG's online strategy;
  • Optimize the online channels (including website and social media channels) by formulating and discussing development needs with the online core team, together with other coordinators.

Tasks
  • Develop and (co-)implement the online communication strategy focused on the online visibility of the knowledge unit and its services/project results across various online channels such as wur.nl, social media, newsletters, and other online platforms;
  • Ensure that online content (text, images, videos, infographics) contributes to the marketing and communication goals of the knowledge unit and WUR;
  • Analyze and evaluate online marketing and communication goals (e.g., via Google Analytics), in coordination with other online communication coordinators and B2B content marketers;
  • Contribute to enhancing the online communication skills of researchers within the knowledge unit by actively sharing the latest knowledge/innovations in online communication and advising and/or training staff.

Requirements

  • You have at least a bachelor's degree in marketing or communication and a minimum of 3 years of experience as an online communication advisor/marketer;
  • You have experience in developing and implementing online communication strategies and campaigns (Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta), including keyword research;
  • You are data-driven, with knowledge of Google Analytics, Semrush, VWO.com, and webcare tools such as Coosto;
  • You possess strong advisory skills, can successfully operate within complex organizations, and are creative and conceptually strong;
  • You are stress-resistant, independent, and team-oriented, with excellent proficiency in Dutch and English;
  • You are proactive, results-oriented, organizationally sensitive, and have an affinity with WUR's topics.

Along with these excellent secondary employment conditions, we offer a suitable salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a salary of at least € 3,202.- and a maximum of € 5,221.- based on a full-time workweek of 36 hours, in accordance with the CAO Wageningen Research (scale 10). This position is for 0.7 FTE, with 0.8 FTE negotiable.
