Are you experienced with analytical chemistry? And do you like to apply your experience to work on safe food and feed for public health? Then you might be the one we are looking for to join one of our research teams! We have a vacancy for an analyst on elemental analysis in our Inorganic Contaminants team.

As analyst elemental analysis you will:
  • participate in routine and research projects, as well as execute ad hoc support analyses under quality assurance system ISO 17025;
  • perform method development, optimalisation and validation for elemental analysis in a large variety of food and feed materials and setup standard operating procedures (SOP);
  • analyze, interpret, report and pro-actively discuss results in collaboration with experts and project teams, including advice for next steps;
  • have the responsibility for critical evaluation of equipment, methods and techniques and you are expected to pro-actively propose points for improvement.

Requirements

If you are our ideal candidate, you;
  • have a bachelor level degree (BSc) in analytical chemistry or equivalent;
  • have hands-on work experience in a routine or research environment, like pharma or food, but also candidates with no work experience are invited to apply;
  • preferably have hands-on work experience in ICP- MS analyses;
  • preferably have affinity with statistics and data analysis;
  • are a team player with a hands-on attitude and the following key competences: accurate, result-oriented, quality-minded, well organized, open attitude and willingness to learn.
  • preferably have at least B2 level of English and knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

You will work here:
The Inorganic Contaminants team is one of the six teams of Business Unit Contaminants & Toxicology of WFSR. Within Inorganic Contaminants with currently 14 colleagues, the elemental analysis team consists of 5 enthusiastic colleagues working on a broad range of food and feed matrices like meat, fish and dairy for the analysis of different elements with ICP-MS.

On average a working day for analysts consists of about 80% of working in the laboratory include preparation of food and feed samples and analysis with ICP-MS. As quality of our work is highly valuated, you will get involved with the (re)validation and reporting of the about 20 different SOPs that are used in this work area. Our work also involves participation in collaborative studies with national and international laboratories. Besides the primary work, some general or quality tasks may become part of your work.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €2,695,- and €4,001,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 7-8). Additionally, a contract for 32 hours a week can be discussed. You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
