Job description

As a Digital Information Librarian working within a multidisciplinary team, you are responsible for acquiring, provide access and managing digital scientific information. You are the point of contact for colleagues for quote requests, orders and management of e-resources. You communicate effectively, quickly and consistently with a wide range of internal and external target groups: students, teachers, researchers, colleagues, publishers and suppliers. You work closely with the license manager, the functional application manager of the integrated library system (WMS - Worldshare Management Services) and your colleagues within the Acquisitions & Metadata department and the other library departments.

Your duties
  • acquiring e-resources at the request of and in collaboration with the information specialists based on pricing, licensing conditions and agreements with suppliers
  • maintaining contact and negotiating with publishers and suppliers about content, terms of use, access, prices and orders
  • ensuring seamless access to all University Library e-resources, both paid and Open Access, and taking solution-oriented, proactive action in case of access problems
  • managing system functionality in WMS / Discovery; this includes licensing information, keeping metadata up to date and authentication
  • monitoring and optimizing the workflows of e-resources within the University Librarycollecting usage statistics on e-resources; perform aggregate analyses and provide statistical and other reports

  • keeping track of (inter)national trends and developments in the field of acquisition and management of e-resources and Open Access
  • archiving licenses in the license module of the library system

Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • good communication and negotiation skills
  • excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English, proficiency in Dutch is an advantage
  • extensive experience with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Access and Word
  • service-oriented, analytical, flexible, communicative and proactive

Knowledge of and experience with WMS (or a comparable integrated library system), the WorldCat KnowledgeBase and knowledge of relevant standards and codes (such as COUNTER, KBART) is recommended.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

  • a salary of minimum € 2.693,00 (Scale 7) and maximum € 3.636,00 (Scale 7) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Library Services Officer 1. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.7 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 1 year. Afterwards, there is a prospect of a permanent contract.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
