Job description

We offer a position for a research technician at the Innovation Center for Advanced Therapies (ICAT) in Utrecht. You will also be part of a RegMed XB infrastructure of 4 leading regenerative medicine clusters in the Netherlands (namely Leiden, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Maastricht). By collaborating with fundamental and translational researchers, GMP experts, analysts and clinicians from different disciplines, new innovative medicines can be translated more quickly into a production process that is suitable for clinical use within ICAT.

As a research technician you will be involved in a broad range of tasks including:
  • Development, optimization, validation and execution of quality control analyses both in research and GMP-environment.
  • Autonomously setting up, planning, developing and validating new methods and techniques needed to facilitate GMP manufacturing processes.
  • Reviewing and reporting of results.
  • Responsible for accurate completion of documentation according to the relevant Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and guidelines.
  • Contribute to protocol/work instruction writing and improvement.
  • Provide hands-on execution in the GMP manufacturing process and quality control analyses.
  • Contribute to maintenance of instruments and equipment.
  • Contribute to the various projects and setting up the facility in the start-up phase of the ICAT and communication with all relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our versatile environment in regenerative medicine and cell-and gene therapy. In addition you also have:
  • A Bachelor of (Applied) Science (BSc) degree or Master of Science (MSc) in a relevant biomedical subject.
  • Experience with cellular (cell culture, cell engineering, flow cytometry) and molecular biological techniques, experience to work under GMP quality system is a big plus.
  • Professional proficiency in both Dutch and English (written and spoken) is a must.
  • Ability to think analytically, problem-solving skills, drive to succeed.
  • You are enthusiastic, flexible, collaborative, you work accurately and you are willing to join an interdisciplinary and international environment.

Conditions of employment

The maximum salary for this position (36 - 36 hours) is € 4.214,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).

We would like to welcome you to the Innovation Center for Advanced Therapies (ICAT) in Utrecht. ICAT is part of the Regenerative Medicine Pilot Plant, a RegMed XB infrastructure of 4 regenerative medicine clusters in the Netherlands (Leiden, Utrecht, Eindhoven, and Maastricht). By collaborating with fundamental and translational researchers, GMP experts, analysts and clinicians from different disciplines, new innovative medicines can be translated more quickly into a production process that is suitable for clinical use. Moreover, ICAT has the latest biofabrication and cell therapy infrastructure, state-of-the-art equipment, and technology to develop new ATMPs for clinical applications for patients in UMC Utrecht and other hospitals in the Netherlands. The ICAT consists of three (sub) facilities; GMP simulation facility, biofabrication and cell and gene innovation facility and a GMP production facility. You will be working within the GMP simulation facility on several projects in parallel as part of a multi-disciplinary team in close collaboration with the other facilities. The GMP simulation facility focuses on testing, developing, validating, and optimizing production protocols and quality control analyses, significantly accelerating, and improving the development and scale-up of production technology and processes.
