Job description

FASoS is looking for a temporary Secretary of the Board of Examiners (0,7 fte) to cover a maternity leave. The ideal candidate would start on 1 October 2024 for a 5-month period.

Job Description
Within our Office of Student Affairs you will provide optimal support to the Board of Examiners, from a governance-legal frame as well as in preparation of decision-making. You ensure the Board of Examiners can fulfill their legal tasks (including assuring the quality of examination) effectively and efficiently.

Tasks:
  • You organize, prepare and record all meetings of the Board of Examiners and decisions made; communicate on, process and archive all decisions made by the Board of Examiners; and handle correspondence to and from the Board of Examiners. You contribute to the creation of reports and proposals of the BoE and make proposals for the modification of existing procedures and regulations.
  • You support the BoE with their (legal) tasks like appointing responsible examiners, updating the Rules and Regulations and other internal documents, and auditing.
  • You support the BoE in carrying out yearly focus points by providing administrative support, drafting evaluations and facilitating communication with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
  • You supervise and promote compliance with set procedures, regulations and agreements; you proactively propose updates and improvements in procedures and regulations.
  • You monitor and actively influence the decision-making process in terms of processes and procedures and the implementation of the subsequent resolutions.

Requirements
  • Thinking and acting at academic level, by education and/or working experience;
  • The official language at FASoS is English, therefore excellent language skills in English, both verbally and in writing, is required;
  • You are independent and are able to work under pressure;
  • You communicate clearly and professionally;
  • A background or degree in Law will be considered an asset;
  • You are capable of keeping overview of multiple dossiers and processes at the same time;
  • You are sensitive to stakeholder interests;
  • Act as a team player within the BoE where the job position is available.

What we offer
As Interim Secretary of the Board of Examiners at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 9 according to UFO profile Secretary, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3502,00 and €4812,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 5 months with a scope of 0,7 FTE.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
