We work in multidisciplinary teams on current issues in the field of digitization, self-service, security, data management, high performance computing and cloud strategy. You will take on the challenges of further developing and managing a state-of-the-art software-defined network environment. The Network Services team within WUR is responsible for connectivity at the Campus in Wageningen, Lelystad and all other WUR locations throughout the country, including new buildings, lab environments and outdoor locations.

You have a broad interest in new developments in the field of ICT infrastructure and specific ICT network(s). Your primary focus will be on maintenance and renewal of LAN and Wlan.
You are a driven network administrator with technical knowledge of Cisco based Enterprise networks. In this position, you will work four days a week on the WUR campus to carry out maintenance, handle tickets and execute changes. Occasional working from home days are possible in consultation with the team.

Furthermore, you have an important task within the daily operations of the network team, you solve problems, implement changes, come up with proposals for innovations and contribute to multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

What are you going to do?
  • You work most of the week at WUR locations in Wageningen and are also responsible for handling incidents and requests related to network services;
  • In construction/renovation projects, you act as the point of contact for project managers and installers regarding the installation of IT infrastructure and ensure that the work is carried out in compliance with certification requirements;
  • You contribute to network maintenance and installation at all WUR locations and are present on-site when necessary;
  • Together with colleagues, you ensure the ordering of network components and coordinate their delivery and installation;
  • With your team, you work on upgrading the current network to a new design (SDN/SDA);
  • Alongside your colleagues, you contribute to the development of network services;
  • You strengthen cross-team collaboration with other technical operations or support teams.

Requirements

  • You have a good command of Dutch, both spoken and written;
  • You have at least a completed technical vocational education (MBO level);
  • You have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in Cisco networks/LAN management;
  • You are an engineer who takes initiative and approaches tasks proactively;
  • You hold Cisco certification (CCNA) or are willing to obtain it in the short term;
  • You have experience with cabling for a certified network;
  • You are familiar with ITIL (incident and change management) and standard IT ticket handling in a Service Management platform;
  • You are willing to occasionally participate in on-call duty for resolving incidents;
  • You are a proactive colleague who handles management tasks in a structured manner.

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive salary of a minimum of € 3,316 to a maximum of € 5,273 for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement Wageningen Research (scale 9 or 10). In addition, an appointment of 0.8 FTE is negotiable. We offer you a one-year contract with the intention of converting it to an indefinite period.
