Job description

How challenging is it to apply for and win groundbreaking Horizon Europe projects at TU Delft together with Delft (top) researchers, companies, start-ups and governmental partners?

Job description
We think it is important to make the application process for innovation and/or research projects excellent so that the success rate is as high as possible and projects can also be implemented well. We do this work with you. Are you the talented Grant Advisor EU we are looking for?

This is what you will do

TU Delft researchers apply for grants from the European Union for their research. The applications must be of top quality. You take care of that: applying for prestigious Horizon Europe personal and consortium grants by researchers. The emphasis is on ERC, MSCA and EIC (Pathfinder) applications. You support scientists and their (potential) business, academic and start-up partners in the application process. In some cases, these are applications under other programmes. The application process starts with a research idea towards a fully written and submitted project application.

You liaise with staff from the faculties where the researchers work. You also liaise with intended partners in South Holland, the Netherlands, Europe and beyond. You take an active and targeted part in (online) networking activities. You maintain proactive connections with all players to arrive at the strategically right approach in time and help articulate it in the project application.

Together with your colleagues from EU Research Funding and other teams from the Innovation & Impact Centre, the project proposal you support is submitted in the most promising way possible.

Where you will work

TU Delft is one of the largest and most successful users of Horizon Europe funding and has been successfully working on the future for over 180 years. Scientists and students work together on technologies for society, for future generations and we go for sustainability, safety, security and economic vitality. You will work at the Innovation & Impact Centre, EU Research Funding department.

The I&IC supports and advises TU Delft researchers as well as deans and the Executive Board. It deals with (EU) policy, strategic planning, profiling, (inter)national cooperation, funding and business intelligence. Horizon Europe runs until 2028. Preparations for the tenth Framework Programme have started. You will further develop and use your expertise for successful participation in this EU programme.

Your team

You are part of the EU and NL Research Funding teams. These teams focus on project development around leading topics for the Netherlands and Europe, are diverse in composition, professional and some are ‘black belt’ grant advisors. There is strong awareness of the rapidly changing context of technical-scientific research. Amongst ourselves, we are in close contact, switch quickly and accurately and work closely together to achieve our goals. We also have fun together!

Job requirements
This is you

You are a self-starter who can handle a steep learning curve well. You have good communication (and intercultural) collaboration skills. To have a background or affinity in exact sciences or engineering, or a proven ability to delve into natural and technical scientific texts is recommended. You are also familiar with the complex and dynamic, innovation-oriented working environment within a university or knowledge institute. Preferably, you are already familiar with the ins and outs of Horizon Europe and the application process, or you can demonstrate that you can master this quickly.

You communicate in a friendly and patient manner with others. You enjoy working in a team. Despite different backgrounds and interests, you know how to connect people, through the content of research, through their own motivation. You are a good listener. You can also effortlessly maintain a relevant network and work in a team.
