This project focuses on understanding and targeting malignant rhabdoid tumors (MRT), aggressive childhood cancers characterized by mutations in BAF complex members. Using patient-derived organoid models, we aim to develop tools to elucidate molecular mechanisms of BAF complex restoration. We will evaluate epigenetic regulators as potential therapeutic targets and perform genome-wide characterization of treatment responses. We will apply deep learning to analyze patient-specific molecular changes.
The project is a close collaboration between the labs of Elzo de Wit (Netherlands Cancer Institute) and Jarno Drost (Princess Maxima Centre), as such you will be embedded in both groups. You are expected to work in close collaboration with a wet-lab PhD student.
We are seeking a talented and motivated PhD student to join our research team working on an exciting project in pediatric cancer biology and computational genomics.
Required Skills
Desired Qualifications
Fixed-term contract: 4 years, with a possibility for extension.
Compensation
Join us in our mission to uncover fundamental processes in epigenetic regulation and develop better treatments for children with MRT.
You will be employed for a period of at least four years, with a possibility for extension. For a PhD student the gross salary per month can range from € 3.523,- to €4.277,- (salary PhD student scale, according to the Collective Labour Agreement General Hospitals), depending on your experience.
