Assistant Professor Advanced 2D Material Devices and Circuits for Future Chips

Assistant Professor Advanced 2D Material Devices and Circuits for Future Chips

Published Deadline Location
12 Dec 6 Feb Eindhoven

Job description

Are you passionate about novel devices and computing paradigms based on 2D materials and their promise for future semiconductor devices? You are invited to lead research on 2D materials devices and circuits with access to cutting-edge fabrication tools. You will have many opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and to shape the future of semiconductor devices. Join us as Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering!

We are looking for an assistant professor in the field of 2D devices and energy efficient circuits. You will address one of the key challenges in this field — 2D device fabrication towards circuits for in-memory computing, neuromorphic computing and physical computing.

The Integrated Circuits group

The position is embedded within the Integrated Circuits (IC) group, with its pioneering work in the field of circuit design for electronics, next-generation device and computing technologies, photonics and quantum technology. You will be connected to the Future Chips Flagship and Eindhoven Hendrik Casimir Institute (EHCI) and be part of our world-class NanoLab cleanroom community where you will co-direct tools on metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). Your research will leverage cutting-edge electronics lab and metrology tools, including transmission electron microscopy (TEM), near-field imaging (VIS, IR, THz) and in-situ measurements, to explore different devices and circuit integration techniques.

Unique for this position is the opportunity to contribute to the strong research momentum on 2D materials at various TU/e departments. Your research on the synthesis of advanced 2D materials will yield a wealth of opportunities to initiate collaborations with our PIs working on for example exploring novel physics in 2D materials, as well as implementing 2D materials in electronic, photonic and quantum devices for new computing, communication and sensing paradigms. Amongst others, this position will be complemented by an assistant professor position at the Applied Physics department (PMP group) focusing on 2D material growth.

You will also become part of the unique ecosystem of the TU/e and the Eindhoven Brainport region with many collaborations with world-leading international companies, high-level institutes, and innovative SMEs.

This position offers a unique platform to develop your independent research program, secure external funding, and mentor a diverse group of students. In addition, you will contribute to the department's teaching mission at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
