The Department of Quantitative Economics (QE) of the School of Business and Economics (SBE) is looking for an Assistant Professor (on a Tenure Track position) in Econometrics, with special interest in one or more of the following areas: theoretical econometrics, time series econometrics, micro-econometrics, panel data, and high-dimensional statistics / statistical learning.
The teaching tasks of the QE Department consists of both courses for the bachelor and master programmes in Economics and Business, and courses for the Bachelor and Master programmes in Econometrics and Operations Research. As to the latter programmes, teaching covers the large spectrum of mathematics, statistics, operations research, econometrics, mathematical economics, and actuarial science. Research of the members of the QE Department also covers topics in all these areas. Teaching ranges from teaching in small groups (UM’s Problem Based Learning) to lecturing and course coordination, as well as supervision of bachelor and master theses.
The applicant will contribute to research in econometrics and statistics and is expected to publish in international top journals in one of more of the fields of interest to the QE department.
The candidate:
- has a PhD (or close to completion) in Econometrics or Statistics
- has a strong research orientation
- has experience with education in Statistics, Econometrics and related topics
- is an enthusiastic and cooperative colleague, willing to collaborate with the Econometrics group and the QE department as a whole in research and teaching.
Fixed-term contract: Tenure Track position.
Gross monthly salary is between € 3.475,00 and € 4.757,00 (salary scale 11, UD2).
Candidates receive a one-off temporary employment contract for ten years as an assistant professor (level 2). Five years after the appointment, or sooner if the pre-established criteria have been met, a permanent position as assistant professor (level 1) is granted. The ten-year contract allows for any delays arising from special circumstances such as maternity leave, parental leave or long-term illness.
