Functieomschrijving

The candidate will work in the context of the European Open Science Cloud Hub (EOSC-Hub) project, a 30 million EU e-infrastructure project providing a variety of compute services to the scientific community. In the context of this project, the successful applicant will work toward improving the computational services developed in the Utrecht group, with as flagship software HADDOCK. These are centred around the common theme of modelling biomolecular interactions. The work will involve maintaining, improving and further developing the software and computational services of the group, developing training material, providing user support, and contributing to various active research projects of the group. The candidate will also be responsible for reporting and dissemination of results, and interaction with the other partners in the EOSC-Hub project.

Functie-eisen

The applicant should possess a PhD degree with some background in structural biology. Experience in computing (under Linux), web development and programming skills (especially in Python) is a requisite. The applicant should also be experienced in high-throughput computing (grid and/or cloud) and system administration. Next to that, strong management and communication skills are expected in order to operate in the context of a large international consortium.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

The candidate is offered a full-time position for two years, which can be extended. The gross salary is in the range between €3,111 and maximum €4,084 (scale P Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. In addition, we offer: a pension scheme, a partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities. The Computational Structural Biology group of Prof. Dr. Alexandre M.J.J. Bonvin is embedded in the NMR Research Group, part of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science and belongs the Bijvoet Center for Biomolecular Research. The group has a strong experience in the modelling of biomolecular interactions, developing among other the widely-used HADDOCK integrative modelling software and a variety of other web portals used by a large worldwide community of users. The group is participating to various European H2020 e-Infrastructure projects, including the BioExcel Center of Excellence, the WestLife Virtual Research Environment and the new European Open Science Cloud Hub (EOSC-Hub) project.
