Then the International Institute of Social Studies is the place for you!

Your goal? Acquiring new contract research assignments, creating teaching programmes for interested parties, and connecting organisations with ongoing research. Another goal is establishing and maintaining new strategic partnerships both in The Hague, the Netherlands and abroad. Thanks to you, future partners understand the importance of our research and expertise and are prepared to invest in it.

We are looking or someone with expertise in the broader development field, who understands and gets along with academics and who enjoys working with an established team, while having distinct individual tasks. We expect the Business Development & Partnerships Officer to be able to create new and build on existing networks locally in The Hague (NGOs, government, city) within the Netherlands (public and private organisations) and internationally.

Our Business Development & Partnerships Officer will pro-actively scout funding opportunities for both research and teaching and will initiate, organise and coordinate the application for these opportunities

Job description

You are educated to Master's level (having a PhD would be a bonus), with experience in Business Development or Partnership Development, preferably in Development Studies/Social Science.

Your command of Dutch and English language is at a high-level as the role will require embeddedness in both Dutch and international networks.

You have excellent interpersonal and networking skills for building and developing relationships both with external partners and clients and ISS/EUR staff; ideally you have a proven track-record of acquiring contract research and/or consultancy work and an existing network of client-organisations.

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills – these are needed as you will be communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as representing ISS and its expertise in smaller and larger settings.

You will have a flexible approach to the job with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and you have the ability to think outside of the box to come up with new funding sources for either research or teaching activities.
