Job description

Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR) is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Researcher Residues in Food Safety.
In this challenging position, you will play a key role in improving food safety through groundbreaking research on residues in food.

What will you do?
As a Senior Researcher Residues in Food Safety, you will make a significant contribution to projects focused on food safety and sustainable food production. You bring extensive knowledge in the field of GC-MS and LC-MS and complex matrices and know how to apply these technologies effectively in your work.

Your responsibilities include:
  • collaborating with and supporting project staff in a multidisciplinary team. The team consists of approximately 20 colleagues, and your creativity and analytical skills will inspire others and help uncover new insights;
  • building and expanding a relevant network within this scientific field, as well as in industry and government;
  • acting as an ambassador for WFSR in both national and international forums;
  • actively publishing scientific articles and presenting research findings at conferences;
  • working on themes such as the protein transition and circularity, with a focus on practical and innovative solutions in food safety.

Requirements

We are looking for a driven and experienced professional with:
  • at least a Master's degree, preferably in a relevant field such as (bio)chemistry, analytical chemistry, or food safety;
  • a minimum of 3 years of experience with GC-MS and LC-MS;
  • demonstrable experience and enthusiasm for writing scientific publications;
  • excellent networking skills and strong communication abilities, both within and outside the organization;
  • strong analytical skills and the ability to approach complex problems creatively.

This role requires a technical expert, not an educator, but a professional with deep subject matter knowledge who thrives in a multidisciplinary setting and actively contributes to innovative solutions in the food safety sector.

In our international working environment, English is increasingly the primary language of communication. For this position, a C1 language level is required. If you do not yet meet this level, we will support you in achieving it through Wageningen in’to Language, our language center.

We understand that this role presents significant challenges, which can also be viewed as opportunities for development. If you don’t yet have the complete track record requested but do have solid work experience, we also encourage you to apply.

Conditions of employment

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent employment conditions. Highlights from our collective labor agreement include:
  • Flexible working hours to ensure an optimal work-life balance.
  • Sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave.
  • A focus on vitality, with access to on-campus sports facilities at an attractive rate.
  • An annual bonus of 8.3%.
  • An excellent pension plan through ABP.

A competitive salary is, of course, part of the package. Depending on your experience, we offer a market-based salary ranging from €3,234 to €6,008 per month for a full 36-hour workweek, in accordance with the Wageningen Research CLA (scale 10-11).

Additionally, a 32-hour workweek is negotiable. Initially, we offer you a two-year contract, which, with mutual enthusiasm, will subsequently be extended to a permanent contract. Of course, we are happy to discuss any questions you may have about this.

Wageningen University & Research encourages internal career growth and mobility through an internal recruitment policy. There are ample opportunities for personal initiative in a learning environment, and we offer excellent training options. You will find a versatile job in an international setting with a pleasant and open working atmosphere.
