You are a talented and highly motivated individual excited to join the MediSpeech project as a PhD researcher. Ideally, you have a strong background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a closely related field, with a passion for applying advanced technologies to solve real-world healthcare challenges.
Prerequisites for this position are:
- A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, PyTorch).
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and methods, particularly in natural language processing, speech analysis, or multimodal learning.
- Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and their applications.
- A keen interest in working on problems related to healthcare and clinical applications. Previous exposure to electronic health records (EHRs) or medical AI is advantageous but not required.
While not required, experience with high-dimensional and multimodal datasets (e.g., text, audio, images) would be helpful. Knowledge of uncertainty quantification, speech-to-text technologies, ASR systems, or audio signal processing is also a plus, along with an understanding of bias detection, fairness, and inclusivity in AI systems.
Moreover, an innovative mindset allows you to think creatively and tackle complex problems. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, engineers, and researchers, excites you. Your strong communication skills help you effectively share research findings with both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, excellent organizational skills enable you to manage all aspects of the project, from development to practical evaluation.
